Santa Maria Termite Control

Santa Maria termite control centers offer adequate help in exterminating termites from your home, and can also give you plenty of advice for keeping these creatures away, as well as on how they find their way into your ceiling cavities, under your floor boards, and into your wall linings. Most termites create tunnels that lead them into house, from the garden or any other patch of land that contains soil to find timber to eat. They will either locate small cracks in the foundation of your house, or else create small tunnels made of mud, through which they can reach the floorboards of your house.

If you have any openings in your house as a result of plumbing fixtures and other expansion joints, chances are termites will enter through these openings, say Santa Maria termite control officials. You will probably not see the termites themselves, but will notice the mud tunnels that they create, as well as their wings laying around the house. There can be up to a quarter of a million termites in a single colony, and they can eat a great deal of wood in a very short space of time. But it is not a big deal to get your home sprayed with termite killing pesticides.

Santa Maria termite control personnel have been studying these interesting, yet annoying creatures for quite some time, and amazingly termites have been found to exist for over 250 million years! Termites even got their name from the Romans, first being "termes", meaning woodworm. Unfortunately for individuals or family's who have to deal with a termite infestation, there are over 40 types of termite species in the United States alone - making it quite a job for the pest control companies to keep a track of. But one good thing is that termites cannot handle being exposed to sunshine or even fresh air, and will die instantly.

Officials from the Santa Maria termite control centers warn that you should attempt to cover all cracks in your walls, doorframes and also window frames, as this is how termites could enter your home. You can even purchase a few termite baits from a specialized termite company, and lay them out near any cracks, or close to pot plants outside that reach your walls. This will prevent other termites from entering your home; while you are busy getting hold of a company that can spray termite pesticides throughout your home.

Santa Maria termite control officials suggest fumigation as a means of getting rid of a colony of termites living in your home. The reason for this recommendation is that termites are often not only living in the walls and ceiling of your home, but are also often found burrowing into wooden furniture - such as antique chairs and tables. For this reason, baiting is not enough to kill the colony, as they could be hiding elsewhere and will simply reproduce to form an additional colony at a later stage. Fumigation will annihilate the entire infestation in your home, although you may need to move out for a weekend and take any pets along with you.
