Pest infestation is a problem that many people struggle to eliminate from their homes. There are so many products available on the market for the elimination of pests, from home remedies to do-it-yourself techniques. If your home is infested with termites and/or pests or is located in an area that is prone to termite or pest infestation then you have two choices, either you can prevent the possibility of termites from entering your home yourself or you can call the experts. Trusted and well respected within their line of work, Ecola Termite & Pest Control is a company that specializes in the eradication of pests and termites from your home.

So why do termites enter a persons home? Mature termites “swarm” when they are looking for a mate to build a new colony. Termites can locate the smallest crack in the wood of your home such as in the eaves or an unpainted window sill. Drywood termites are called such because the feed on dry wood. Subterranean termites live in the soil under and around you home and are attracted to moisture conditions such as wood areas around leaky pipes. Termites do not care in which neighborhood you live, in which state you reside or how big or small you home is, if the conditions are right they will move in and start a new colony. As specialists in the field of termite control, Ecola is able to assist you to alleviate this problem.

An Ecola expert should be contacted for an inspection of your home should you be worried about termite or pest infestation. The inspector will be able to give you a thorough analysis of where the termites are breeding, how severe the damage is, and what method(s) of treatment he or she recommends. There is a wide variety of treatments available, from the traditional method of fumigation to alternative treatments such as the microwave and Direct HeatTM. Fumigation involves the use of toxic chemical substances to destroy drywood termites. This process will involve you leaving your house for the recommended time, usually approximately three days, during which toxic fumes are released into you home. Your home will also require thorough ventilation before you will be allowed to move back in, this process is utilized for severe drywood termite infestation. Instead of releasing toxic chemicals, a second procedure that may be recommended by your Ecola expert is the treatment of Direct HeatTM. This procedure is fast and effective. It involves the releasing of hot air into the area of infestation; the area reaches temperatures of approximately 130F and is held at a constant temperature for about an hour, thereby successfully killing all termites in that area. The advantage of Direct HeatTM is that it not only destroys termites but any odors or moisture in the area as well. Ecola experts will recommend the best treatments for your situation, taking your needs and the needs of your family into account. If you do however reside in a suburb with many residents, you may want to consider termite treatments that are not chemically based and that are environmentally friendly.
